Programme Description

This programme provides course participants with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and competences in vocational content, pedagogy and assessment. It aims to provide those within or wishing to join the education sector with the necessary tools and competences to teach effectively in the secondary and vocational sector whilst fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all learners. Within this programme, learners shall also develop their theoretical and practical skills in manufacturing, mechanical and electrical engineering with the aim of nurturing intrigue and inquiry among learners in the field of engineering technology. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to be in possession of:

  1. Three (3) Ordinary Levels at MQF Level 3 (minimum Grade C or 5)  in Maltese, English Language and Mathematics awarded by MATSEC or an equivalent examination body recognised by the Institute for Education.

AND

A minimum of one of the following:

  1. ​​An awarded MATSEC Certificate (MQF 4) with a grade C or better in TWO of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Drawing or Graphical Communication;
  2. ​An MQF Level 4 vocational qualification (MQF 4 with a minimum of 120 ECTS) in Engineering Technology or a cognate area deemed relevant by the Institute for Education; 
  3. Three subjects at Advanced Level (MQF 4) with a grade C or better in TWO of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Drawing or Graphical Communication; and at least a Grade D in a third subject.
  4. ​Two subjects at Advanced Level (MQF 4) at grade C or better in two of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Drawing or Graphical Communication and three intermediate subjects with a minimum grade D.
